Short story behind the car
Lotus competed in the British GT3 series in 2006 alongside a race team called “Cadena Motorsport”. Two cars were built for the start of the season, chassis 1 & 2 of the GT3 Race Car – there was also a burnt orange showcar made to demonstrate that Lotus intended to make the GT3 available as a road car in order to get homologation as a GT3. A couple of additional replicas were built by Lotus Cars for export orders.
By around midway through the season, it was clear the Lotus was the favourites to win the championship unless they had a big crash that could put them out of contention, at this point a third chassis was built just in case. Lotus went on to win the British GT3 championship with the Exige.
Love this, great idea and the light bars are a good idea to add interest. The overall lighting on the car is well done done and post edit has been well thought out. Well done.
Tim Wallace – I-SHOT-IT Automotive Competition
After the end of the season, this Exige was sold on by Bell & Colvill to a private buyer who went on to compete in a number of open classes picking up some more race wins for the Exige.
It was then put into storage for several years before it came for sale at Lotus Silverstone. At the time of writting this post, the car is still available at a price around £85,000 and barely 8500 miles on the clock
