In 2013, I think it was around April, I met Jamie and we drove near Thatcham to take some photos of his late 80s, chrome wrapper Lotus Esprit. Probably one of a kind Esprit in the world. Some people might think it’s amazing, other will say it’s the biggest mistake they have ever seen. Most important, nobody will just ignore it, as it always invokes some kind of emotion in you. It is really shiny, looks like a car from the future and you will need a proper sunglasses to get closer and have a look!
At the time I took the photos, interior was still in progress. If you see the car now, your eyes will enjoy a weird view of a silver & purple leather interior and purple engine bay. I’ve put here one of the snapshots from last Lotus Meeting in Newlands Corner, but… it’s only a snapshot…
My introduction to Andrew (aka Malcom Feth) and www.nineteen80one.com came via TLF (thanks Whirlybird) and we got up at the crack of dawn one sunny Sunday morning in May and spent 4 hours on a photo shoot of the exterior. 800 shots later, Andrzej went back to his studio to work his magic.Personally, I think this is a lovely machine and Jamie done a really good job. I always admire people who have a vision and don’t bother with negative comments of people around. It was a challenge to shoot this machine in full sun and we had to find some shadow. It was quite busy around there – green, a lot of trees, gravel road, a lot of reflection… Maybe not the most perfect location for car like this, but maybe that’s why I really like the final outcome.
